NEC SpectraView® 552 is first dsRGB colour accurate large format display in SpectraView® Series
NEC delivers best of two worlds, colour accuracy and 55-inch large screen
Munich, 19 September 2012 – NEC Display Solutions Europe has announced the launch of the NEC SpectraView ® 552, the first member of the highly acclaimed SpectraView ® Series to provide creative professionals with life-size colour accurate images.
The SpectraView ® 552 is a high-end 55-inch LCD monitor that supports applications requiring accurate colour reproduction with an unparalleled feature set, a 10-bit look-up-table supporting the dsRGB colour space and is completed by an abundance of interfaces.
Demanding professionals in the creative design, textile, virtual imaging or real-time modelling market segments will be delighted with the SpectraView ® 552, as the image can offer 1:1 sizing for textile garments, digital posters and virtual modelling or digital prototypes, with full colour confidence .
With a native resolution of 1920x1080, the display comes ready configured for dsRGB, which means instant colour accuracy with content created to the dsRGB standard (necessary dsRGB ICC profile is available from the NEC website). Furthermore, with a contrast ratio of 4000:1 and a brightness of 400cd (maximum brightness 700) cd/m2, this display is ready to live up to even the most colour sensitive eye .
One of the unique features is the ability to hardware colour calibrate with its internal 10-bit Lookup Table (LUT). Accessed via DVI-D or DisplayPort connectors with NEC's SpectraView ® state of the art Profiler PD software, the display can be re-calibrated any time to dsRGB or any other appropriate brightness, white point and gamma combination.
The 55-inch display offers incredible value to users, as even at this size image uniformity (measured according to IEC 61966-4) is maintained, ensuring consistent colour viewing with SPVA TFT technology and an active screen area of 1209 x 680 mm.
Designed for a wide array of applications the upcoming SpectraView ® 552 adds daisy chaining capabilities, as well as a pair of 10W built-in speakers and NEC’s dual slot technology – which allows for the integration of single board computers and other option slot products based on the current NEC and new NEC/Intel OPS standard without the need to stow external equipment. Connectivity is enabled through a variety of analogue connection options, as well as DVI-D (with HDCP), HDMI and DisplayPort connectors.

The SpectraView ® 552 has many special characteristics that provide peace of mind and make it an ecological choice. User controllable fans enable the operator to monitor and control the heat inside the display, which is also compliant to the 5.1 Energy Star rating. Thanks to full control of the display via LAN and alert emails in the unlikely event of a problem such as no signal, overheating or backlight failure, peace of mind is assured.
Availability and Warranty
The NEC SpectraView ® 552 is expected to be available in September 2012. Each unit includes a power cord, VGA, DVI-D and DisplayPort cable and user manual on CD-ROM. The SpectraView ® Profiler PD software is also provided on CD-ROM. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year pan-European service warranty including the backlight.
