NEC Display Solutions and EON Reality present affordable complete solution for 3D projections on BETT and ISE

Munich, 13 January 2010 – NEC Display Solutions and EON Reality, the leading supplier of interactive 3D software, are jointly presenting a new solution for producing and displaying 3D content. Compared with conventional 3D systems which use two projectors and need special filters and a particular kind of screen, this technology needs just a 3D-capable projector such as the new NEC NP216. This interactive solution offers massive potential to the education sector, for example in depicting a body in anatomy lessons, landscape profiles in geography, machine parts or architecture.

What makes the solution particularly attractive is that it is incredibly easy to install – all that is needed for high-quality three-dimensional displays is a projector together with active 3D glasses and 3D software. There is no need for installing special filters or screens. Furthermore EON Reality offers a special pricing to the education sector regarding their software solutions (EON Studio software for interactive 3D environment creation and EON Icatcher software for stereoscopic visualisation and interaction). This allows both manufacturers to greatly cut the price level for 3D projection solutions.

“The education market has been waiting a long time for affordable interactive 3D development projection systems,” says Pierre-Julien Barraud, European Business Development Director at EON Reality. “By combining our software products with the latest NEC projectors, we are able to provide education institutions with a complete low-cost solution that will impact every classroom’s learning environment like never before.” Ulf Greiner, Product Manager for Business Projectors at NEC Display Solutions, believes that this solution has even more to offer: “Through this new lower-cost technology we aim to move into many new markets where 3D projections are highly desired but where to date cost has been the limiting factor.”

NEC Display Solutions and EON Reality will be demonstrating the new 3D projection solution at BETT 2010 in London (13 – 16 January) and at ISE 2010 in Amsterdam (2 – 4 February).

Availability

The 3D product range from NEC Display Solutions will include DLP models NP115 (April 2010) and NP210 (April 2010) as well as NP216 (May 2010), the successor to NP215 which features more audio in- and outputs and a second PC input. EON Reality provides the software needed to develop interactive 3D applications. Their software includes EON Studio for creating an interactive 3D environment and EON Icatcher for stereoscopic display and interaction. The extra EON textbook shows users how to easily create their own 3D content and simulations using the software.
