First fully professional grade public displays with LED backlights
NEC Display Solutions announces new MultiSync ® X-series large-format LCDs for the start of 2011
Munich, 6 September 2010 – At the beginning of next year NEC Display Solutions will launch two new 46” and 55” LCD public displays in the NEC MultiSync ® X-series with LED backlights. The NEC MultiSync ® X461S and X551S will be equipped with professional public display panels with the brightness and reliability standards suitable for public display applications. This is what sets these models apart from existing LED backlight displays with built-in TV panels.
The LED backlighting allows for very low energy consumption and an extremely slim monitor. The two large-format monitors harmonise perfectly with any sophisticated environment in which first-class service and design are paramount. Examples of such environments are high-end retail signage applications or central information displays in hotels or conference centres.
NEC Display Solutions will be introducing the energy-saving technology of LED backlighting – in place of CCFL backlights – to its large-format LCD display portfolio for the first time in early 2011. In addition to their low power consumption and slim design, the products will be lighter and use absolutely no environmentally hazardous substances such as mercury which is in line with NEC`s “Green Vision” campaign.
Professional panels with LED backlights in public display quality will only be available towards the end of the year. NEC Display Solutions has therefore decided to wait for these panels to become available instead of launching a commercial looking product with consumer quality. This will allow the manufacturer to ensure that its customers get the first-class quality they expect from NEC.
