Munich, 14 February 2012 NEC Display Solutions Europe is delighted to announce the four winning schools in its 'upgrade your classroom' competition.

Learning institutions across the European Union were encouraged to submit a video to NEC Display Solutions - under the theme of ‘Why does our School need to upgrade the classroom?’ - depicting their technology-deficient classroom. A panel of judges, including members from NEC and Dr. phil. Michael Kirch from the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, then selected the four winners as Grundschule Glehn in Germany; International School of Cluj in Romania; Vittorio Alfieri Comprehensive school in Italy and Österbyskolan in Sweden. A special award of an additional choice of NEC Display products worth €7,000.00 is also given to Dimcho Debelianov School in Bulgaria.

The four winners are being informed of their successful entry and receive a choice of €15,000.00 of NEC Display Solutions products each to outfit their classrooms, all installed by a suitable local partner.

Each winning school will be able to select a range of products to best suit their individual needs, including Ultra Short Throw solutions with integrated whiteboard kits, Multi-Purpose Eco Projection Solutions, 3D Projection packages and high brightness systems ideal for larger venues. High quality desktop displays for classrooms and offices and public displays for delivering messages to the entire institution are also available.

“In the last 10 years, the education sector has modernised itself with more immersive and engaging display and projection systems,” said Klaus Auerboeck, Director Product Management Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe. "Better technology in the classroom can be a tremendous aid to teachers and create a more memorable and engaging experience for learners. With this in mind we are delighted to be able to offer these five learning institutions an opportunity to ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest technologies in the education industry."

"Having cutting edge technology in the classroom not only creates a more engaging experience for students, but it gives them experience with the tools they will be using on a daily basis when they enter the workforce later in life," added Dr. phil. Michael Kirch. "Technologies such as interactive whiteboards and 3D projectors also give educators a host of new possibilities in the way they teach their students."

The winning videos can be seen on the NEC competition website: www.education-nec.com. Further information, including case studies and images from the installation will be made available in due course.
