Performance meets Eco Innovation

NEC Display Solutions presents the M Series and introduces a new naming concept for projectors

Munich, 26 October 2010 – NEC Display Solutions launches a completely new, TCO-certified range of projectors* into the market. The M Series succeeds the NP610-series offering outstanding performance and highly improved energy saving options. New, innovative Eco features such as the 75% AV Mute function and the world’s first Auto Eco mode on projectors lower running costs significantly. At the same time NEC Display Solutions is introducing a new naming concept for its entire range of projectors in order to make the overall portfolio more transparent for its customers.

Projectors are in continuous operation during meetings, presentations and training sessions. With a lamp service life and a filter cleaning interval of up to 6000 hours plus the innovative features of the M Series*, users can significantly reduce their TCO (total cost of ownership). The new 75% AV Mute function allows the user to intuitively mute the projector via the lens cover or by simply pushing the green button on the remote control. This reduces the lamp power by 75% which decreases the overall power consumption of the projector significantly and results in an increased lamp life. With the world’s first Auto Eco mode on projectors the luminance of the lamp is automatically adjusted to match the content being presented, allowing optimum brightness and maximum energy efficiency at all times. In addition, some of the models have two Eco mode levels, with the new second level being designed specifically for whiteboard applications.

All M Series models up to 3500 ANSI lumens received TCO certification from the Swedish testing organisation TCO Development. “TCO Certified is the only independent and reliable global verification of projectors. The TCO certification program has long experience of evaluation of image quality and environmental impact, hence it’s a useful tool for purchaser who want a reliable way to demand high performance ICT products with minimal environmental impact. NEC Display Solutions has again proved that their projectors meet tough requirements on image quality and low environmental impact,” says Soren Enholm, CEO at TCO Development.

“The whole new M Series offers innovative features and a great performance. The 75% AV Mute function and the world’s first Auto Eco mode on projectors mean a significant reduction of operating costs and underlines the NEC commitment to Eco Innovation,” says Ulf Greiner, Product Line Manager Business Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe.

With superior presentation quality, the projectors deliver impressively brilliant images with XGA (1024 x 768) and WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution, an excellent contrast ratio of 2000:1 and a brightness of up to 4200 ANSI lumens. All models come with a large 1.7x optical zoom. This gives great flexibility for the projector installation and reduces replacement cost of old projectors because existing ceiling mounts don’t have to be repositioned. The new M Series, continues to offer all the advantageous features of the predecessor models such as Direct Power On function, Auto Vertical Keystone as well as the unique Carbon Savings Meter, enabling customers to choose the projector that best suits their needs and permits flexible installations. The M Series will also score points for its improved connectivity with a HDMI input and three future-proof USB ports. The USB Type B port allows the user to establish a direct and modern connection to any PC and to control the mouse or for example a presentation using remote control. The two USB Type A ports allow to connect a USB stick for viewing still images directly from the projector and to connect an optional WLAN adapter which ensures flexibility within any working environment.

In order for users to be able to identify suitable products simply, NEC Display Solutions has implemented a new naming concept that will be extended to cover its entire projector portfolio. For example the designation "M260X" identifies a projector of the multi-media M Series ("M") with a brightness of 2600 ANSI lumens ("26") of the first generation ("0") with XGA resolution ("X").
