Ecological and ergonomic quality of NEC projectors affirmed

TCO’s independent seal of approval serves as guide for IT-purchasers

Munich, 11 May 2010 – On 30 April 2010, eleven of NEC Display Solutions’ projectors received TCO certification from the independent Swedish testing organisation TCO Development. The certificate confirms that the projectors comply with binding ergonomic and ecological standards and provides buyers with objective information for making purchasing decisions. In October 2009, two NEC projectors were the first in the world to receive the coveted distinction. With the recent certifications, NEC offers the world’s broadest range of TCO-certified projectors covering value, standard and short-throw models.

TCO Development has defined TCO Image Size as the key comparison value for projectors. It indicates the maximum screen size for guaranteed high quality images. Buyers therefore have to only know the size of the intended projection surface to choose a suitable device. This is set to make purchasing decisions in the education and corporate sectors significantly easier. Other requirements for TCO certification are stringent criteria relating to ergonomics, energy consumption and product as well as packaging material. Here, NEC Display Solutions benefits from its ambitious voluntary ecological commitments that are part of its Green Vision campaign. A long lamp life of up to 5,000 hours in Eco mode as well as user-friendly LAN and timer functions are only a few examples.

“Customers are increasingly attaching great importance to the eco-friendliness of the projector they buy as well as its quality,” explains Sören Enholm, CEO at TCO Development. “Our independent certification is based on strict requirements on both usability and environmental features and provides valuable guidance for consumers. With the TCO certification, NEC Display Solutions is making it much easier for both professional buyers and private customers to choose the right projector with optimum image quality and good ecological characteristics for all ranges of application.”

“It’s not easy to make buying decisions for projectors when you have to rely on data sheets alone. Unlike other labels the TCO certification is not based on pure manufacturer declarations, but instead on actual third-party measurements”, emphasizes Ulf Greiner, Product Line Manager Business Projectors at NEC Display solutions. “The customer can be sure that our devices match the specifications in the data sheet very closely.”
