Next generation classroom projection

NEC Display Solutions presents 3D-ready, ultra-short throw solution

Munich, 16 November 2010 – With the introduction of the new U-series* projectors, NEC Display Solutions is instantly increasing the flexibility of presentation technology in education and corporate settings. The projectors greatly improve the use of interactive whiteboards due to their ultra-short throwing distance of less than 60 cm between the mirror in front of the lens and a 77”/87” whiteboard, which eliminates shadow and glare completely. This allows business users to enjoy large images even in corporate meeting rooms without requiring a lot of space. A further benefit of this solution is the integrated 3D capability that makes schools ready for the next step towards the digital classroom.

NEC Display Solutions supplies the new U-series projectors with a wall-mount making it a quick and easy to install integrated solution. In addition to the ultra-short throw projection, the reflection method with a resulting distance of less than 25 cm to the cabinet makes the usage of the models extremely space-saving and improves the stability of the whole whiteboard installation. The integrated desktop mode means t he projectors can also be used on a table, sideboard or a mobile trolley. Thereby, widescreen format on the U260W and U310W offers a larger projection surface and allows users to play video content in native aspect ratio.

The U-series offers complete peace of mind with regards to the delivery of content, assured by a large variety of analog and digital inputs including HDMI, two computer inputs, monitor out and LAN input for control and monitoring. The Virtual Remote function, additionally allows users to control the projector directly from their PC or laptop via VGA or network. Brightness levels of up to 3100 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 2000:1 ensure outstanding picture quality every time.

Low cost of ownership is ensured by long lamp life and low power consumption. The U-series comes with an integrated filter to provide reliable operation in applications with extensive usage hours such as education. For very dusty environments NEC even offers an additional long life filter with a recommended filter cleaning interval of up to 5000 hours.

The new U-series is 3D-ready making customers future-proof for next generation projection. “The question is not where 3D is beneficial, but rather which applications would not benefit from genuine advantages of 3D like better reality, higher productivity, more attention and emotionally catching presentation,” says Ulf Greiner, Product Line Manager of Business Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe. “Thanks to the ultra-short throwing distance, high brightness models, integrated desktop mode, 3D technology and future-proof connectivity the new U-series is suitable for applications beyond education, such as conference and meeting rooms, simulation and digital signage.”

Just like the recently unveiled models in the M-series, the U-series also follows the new naming concept created by NEC Display Solutions for its projectors. Consequently, the “U” now stands for all of the new NEC ultra-short throw models.

NEC Display Solutions will be presenting the U-series at the BETT 2011 exhibition in London taking place 12 – 15 January.
