NEC takes Tradition of Performance to a new level with PX Series projectors

NEC to announce high performance PX Series projectors

Munich, 21 July 2011 NEC Display Solutions Europe has unveiled several new additions to its line of professional installation projectors with the launch of the PX Series, the world’s first projectors that can use extension modules based on the Open Pluggable Specification (OPS).

The PX Series builds on NEC’s recently launched ‘A Tradition of Performance’ campaign, delivering the perfect innovations for the toughest installations and uninterrupted professional applications. As the new flagship range, these heavy-duty projectors are designed for fixed installations in higher educational environments, for critical signage applications or events, combining ultra high brightness, image precision and industry leading reliability and performance.

Based on DMD DLP Chip technology, the PX Series boasts up to WUXGA (1920x1200) resolution, a contrast ration of 2,100:1 and a brightness of between 7,000 and 8,000 ANSI lumen, dependent on model. Superb picture quality is ensured thanks to 10-bit HQV colour processing.

Guaranteed flexibility on signage applications can be offered via support for the NEC built-in STv2 Single board computer, which utilises Intel’s OPS, while high-definition serial digital interface ( HD-SDI ) for professional broadcast applications will follow soon.

As well as DisplayPort support, all the projectors feature a range of display input options, including HDMI, S-video, RGB and RCA connectors, and include NEC’s Projector Viewer function, which allow users to show PowerPoint files, PDF files, images or movies via the network without any need for a presentation PC or directly from an USB memory stick.

As well as being able to stream content over the network, administrators are able to monitor and control these projectors through a wired connection or over an optional Wi-Fi module.

The PX Series units will be shipped without a lens, giving customers the option to select the lens best suited for their needs. Current NP4000/NP4100 lenses can be used for the PX800X and PX700W models, while new lenses include a lens memory function, which adjusts the lens position automatically, and individually, according to the input signal or previous settings.

As well as a lens shutter, the new range includes an automatic dual-lamp system for safe operation and, with NEC’s ECO Mode TM  technology, the PX Series projectors' lamp life are extended up to 2,500 hours, while the filter only needs to be changed after 10,000 hours of use.

"Being the world’s first projectors that can use built-in OPS extension modules, combined with rich network and multi-media features, the PX Series delivers a new evolution in installation projectors for corporate users, higher education, and especially for digital signage or rental and staging environments," said Gerd Kaiser, Product Line Manager Large Venue Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe. "These innovations epitomise the message behind our long-lasting tradition of performance and ensure the best picture quality, ultimate flexibility and a low total cost of ownership."
