Pàlcam School

Classroom digitisation for all ages

NEC Display Solutions, in collaboration with AV&Data, have brought digitisation to the Pàlcam School in Barcelona. The project began in 2005 and currently there are 72 classrooms benefiting from digital blackboards and the latest generation projectors used at all levels of education within the school.

The Pàlcam School in Barcelona has been one of the pioneering schools in Spain to commit to the digitisation of its classrooms since it installed its first projectors eleven years ago. The school has 60 years’ experience in education and is characterised by its personalised and high-quality educational expertise, which involves one-to-one monitoring of its pupils.

The Challenge

At the forefront of Education

Technological solutions are very useful for pupil learning in schools and for interaction with the teaching staff. The aim of the Pàlcam School is to educate its pupils as people and as effective members of our society, therefore they consider it vital to adapt to new trends and changes in society. To achieve this, NEC Display Solutions, in conjunction with AV&Data, its partner specialising in solutions for educational environments, designed an ad hoc project for them.

Society has developed technologically in all areas and it is for this reason that the school wishes to adapt to the new situation. They understand that their pupils look at the world from the point of view of a person born and bred in a digital world and see new technologies as one more tool to acquire new knowledge and education.

Digitisation for pupils and teachers

Pàlcam has twenty-two M260XS projectors featuring a short throw ratio helping pupils and teachers to interact without disrupting the projected image and the interference of glare. In order to achieve full integration and use of the technologies by pupils and teachers, the infant and primary classrooms not only include interactive digital screens, but also projectors with an Up & Down lifting mechanism, which helps the interactive system to be raised and lowered to suit each child or adult.

The Result

Classroom digitisation not only aids collaborative and co-operative learning for pupils, but also facilitates the teachers’ work through the new technological tools, as in the case of the COMM control system, which enables them to control the projectors from a single point, by means of which they can use the entire potential of the equipment with the utmost reliability.

For the teaching staff at Pàlcam School this commitment is an “inevitable necessity which we cannot avoid. Digitisation is one more step to take if we want our pupils to become active members of a technological society like our own”, Antoni Moré Gil, Pàlcam audiovisual co-ordinator, assures us. The school is known for providing quality and personalised education, and so the digitisation of its classrooms is reinforced even more in view of the improvements it provides for pupils and teachers, as Moré Gil explains: “it brings new technologies in teaching to all levels, from P3 to secondary school examination level and Training Courses, with the necessary techniques to make it a state-of-the-art project”.
