Next generation High Definition Serial Digital Interface module optimised for the best possible image quality

NEC updates HDSDI input card for OPS format public displays and projectors

Munich, 13 October 2011 – NEC Display Solutions Europe has announced the launch of the next generation of its High Definition Serial Digital Interface (HDSDI), designed to deliver full digital operation for public displays and projectors featuring NEC’s STv2 or dual slot.

The new NEC STv2 1.5G HDSDI module is the first non-PC module compatible with all NEC public displays and projectors with STv2 or public displays with NEC dual slot in combination with dual slot adapter. NEC’s dual slot technology allows for the integration of single board computers and other option slot products based on the current NEC and new NEC/Intel OPS standard without the need for external equipment or an additional power source.

The HDSDI module delivers fully digital operation and allows HD and SDI signals to be perfectly processed and imaged. With data rates of up to 1.485Gbits/sec, the new module is designed for broadcast applications but could also be used for those digital signage applications where the signal needs to be transmitted over a long distance. It allows digital signals to be transmitted over distances of up to 300 metres (100 m with HDSDI).

The integrated HDSDI card also features an equalised and reclocked loop-through, which means displays can be daisy-chained together without any reduction in video or audio signal quality.

“Often in broadcasting and public display setups, the source video is some distance away from the displays. This convenient card allows users to send even high-definition signals over 100m without any loss in quality,” said Thorsten Prsybyl, Product Line Manager for Public Displays, NEC Display Solutions Europe. “By updating the HDSDI module to work in its STv2 and dual slot public displays and projectors, NEC is reinforcing its commitment to the OPS standard that was jointly developed with Intel.”

Availability and Price
The NEC STv2 1.5G HDSDI card is now available as an optional solution and NEC offers a three-year guarantee on the module.
