Munich, 26 January 2012 NEC Display Solutions Europe is proud to be one of the first manufacturers to meet with the TCO Certified criteria for a whole range of ultra short throw projectors.

The NEC U Series * is one of the first ultra-short throw projector ranges to fulfil the stringent requirements for TCO Certified Projectors. TCO Development, the organisation behind TCO Certified, has its origins in the Swedish Confederation of Professional Employees and works to ensure that users of IT and office equipment have excellent products with a high degree of usability, while keeping environmental impact to a minimum and thereby contribute to sustainable development. Building on the success of the TCO Certified Projectors program, TCO Development has developed unique criteria for UST projectors, including luminance uniformity, wide colour gamut and limited energy consumption.

Sören Enholm, CEO of TCO Development, comments: “It is critical that users of UST projectors receive products with good environmental characteristics without compromising high picture quality. We are happy to work with NEC Display Solutions which focuses on both of these objectives.”

The NEC U Series delivers an ultra short throw distance dedicated for interactive whiteboard applications in education as well as corporate applications such as small meeting rooms. The very short projection distance makes the projector very versatile and eliminates shadows and glare when working on an interactive whiteboard. Additional features for the 3D-Ready U Series include DLP® and DLP Link technologies from Texas Instruments and wide connectivity via its HDMI and dual computer inputs.

“The TCO certification is certainly one of the most prestigious when it comes to third party validation of our technology. Being one of the first companies to be able to offer TCO Certified ultra short throw projectors shows that we are leading in the development of state-of-the-art technology and that image quality, reliability and future proofed functionality remain at the forefront in every one of our product ranges,” said Ulf Greiner, Product Line Manager Business Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe.
