NEC Display Solutions brings LED backlight to 5MP greyscale medical displays with MD211G5 launch
Munich, 18 June 2013 – NEC Display Solutions Europe is supporting breast cancer prevention with the addition of a new LED backlit, high-brightness greyscale display for digital mammography.
The NEC MD211G5 brings LED backlight to a greyscale medical display, delivering lower power consumption and a longer lifetime compared to traditional LCD displays. This, combined with a high maximum brightness of 1200cd/m2, 5MP resolution and IPS panel technology, ensures superior image quality and stability for reliable diagnosis. Finally, the addition of a DisplayPort connector means users can rest assured that connectivity is future-proofed.
"Accurate diagnosis by physicians is one of the key weapons in the fight against breast cancer, which has the highest incidence in Western Europe. The developments made with this new display means that more detail can be seen by the doctor, ensuring better diagnostic reliability," said Shinji Nohara, Medical Solution Manager at NEC Display Solutions Europe. "For instance, microcalcifications – which are only visible as extremely fine white specks on a mammogram - are possible indicators of pre-cancerous condition. It requires the best image possible if these sorts of indicators are going to be identified and acted upon."
Crucially for diagnostic displays of this nature, the MD211G5 conforms to the latest IEC 62563-1 QA specifications , where its built-in front sensor provides for consistent backlight stabilisation and long-term DICOM GSDF conformance. The MD211G5 features a unique standalone DICOM check feature, which allows for easy and fast PC-independent quality testing, alongside with full compatibility to NEC’s GammaCompMD QA display administration suite for display configuration and maintenance.
Designed for primary diagnostics of medical mammography images, the NEC MD211G5 is a fully medical-certified display suitable for displaying and viewing of digital images for diagnosis by trained physicians.
Availability and warranty
The NEC MD211G5 is available from June 2013 through NEC Display Solutions and certified medical trade resellers. Each unit includes the display, power cord, quick reference guide, GammaCompMD QA software on DVD, DVI-D-, DisplayPort- and USB cables. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year warranty, which also covers the backlight as well as an optional warranty extension to five years.
