Munich December 4, 2024 – Coinciding with Raspberry Pi’s official announcement of its next generation Compute Module 5, Sharp NEC Display Solutions Europe responds with the MPi5 Kit bringing even more power to your digital signage display.
Sharp/NEC’s industry-leading open platform solution and modular slot design brings endless flexibility and future-proof performance enhancement to compatible MultiSync® M and P series large format displays. With the evolution of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module, users seeking to boost the performance of their display can simply upgrade its embedded computing power, extending its lifecycle and protecting their investment. This upgrade potential is valid for the MultiSync® ME1, M1, MA1 series, the MultiSync® P5 series and future models from the MultiSync® M and P series.
Take advantage of Raspberry Pi’s next generation enhancements with the MPi5 Kit:
- Based on the Raspberry Pi CM5, the MPi5 Kit will offer the same form factor as its predecessor, with proven compatibility with any display that was compatible with the MPi4 Kit.
- The RPi Compute Module 5 is 2.5 times more powerful than its predecessor whilst maintaining the same level of efficiency.
- Benefit from even better graphics performance thanks to Open GL ES 3.1 graphics and Vulkan 1.2.
- The MPi5 Kit will be equipped with the same configuration as the MPi4 offering 4GB RAM and 32GB of eMMC which is now up to 4 times faster in peak bandwidth.
- Remaining in production until at least 2036, the RPi CM5 is the perfect tool to upgrade existing Sharp/NEC displays which are built to last.
- Sharp/NEC is committed to supporting long-term projects and installations. The MPi5 Kit will therefore be offered in parallel with the MPi4 Kit.
Sharp/NEC partners with many of the World’s leading CMS providers who appreciate the company’s open-source solutions accessible from the Raspberry Pi developer’s community. Users are guaranteed full compatibility and a total end to end signage solution, ideal for cost-effective applications in retail signage, passenger information and quick service menu boards.
Beyond the benefits of power enhancement, Sharp/NEC’s fully embedded computing devices make digital signage more energy efficient and sustainable, without the need for additional cables or hardware, reducing waste and saving costs.
The Sharp/NEC MPi5 Kit will be available in Q1 CY2025.
