NEC Display Solutions presents MultiSync® X462UN with proprietary “Dark Edge Compensation” function
Improved brightness distribution and network features
Munich, 20 September 2010 – NEC Display Solutions announces the update to its successful MultiSync ® X461UN 46” LCD public display, which features an ultra-narrow bezel and was the first display of its kind to be shipped. The new MultiSync ® X462UN boasts “Dark Edge Compensation”, known as “EdgeComp”, an innovative function developed by NEC Display Solutions for more even brightness distribution and, therefore, a more homogeneous overall image on video wall installations. The new version also offers additional and improved network features, as well as a future-proof DisplayPort connection which allows higher bandwidths and longer cables.
With “EdgeComp”, users of video wall installations in the digital signage sector benefit from an even distribution of light on the LCD public display panel, since the use of CCFL backlights often causes edge areas and corners to receive less light than the centre. “EdgeComp” is activated easily via the on-screen display (OSD) and generates a homogeneous overall picture without dark spots or shadows at the edges. It can be used as an optional feature and is especially useful for presenting light colour content, for instance a white background of a presentation.
The NEC MultiSync ® X462UN also features extended network properties, such as SNMP* support. With this additional standard network protocol, NEC Display Solutions has increased the bandwidth of network-based control and monitoring options for LCD public displays, making installations even more flexible. The new version of the 46” monitor will also support the display of network information such as the IP and MAC address of individual components via the OSD. This makes installation easier and therefore less cost-intensive.

The NEC MultiSync ® X462UN is now commercially available in black. It is supplied with a factory brightness calibration of 500 cd/m 2 . NEC Display Solutions offers a complete solution tailored to the size of the video wall to be installed, consisting of displays, the appropriate NEC Option Slot modules for signal transmission, as well as the appropriate wall-mounting brackets. In addition, each display wall comes with its own control solution, consisting of sensor module, a 3.5 mm jack signal cable, as well as a remote control unit. Included in the overall package are a Dsub 15 cable, a power cable, and a CD-ROM with operating instructions. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three year guarantee for its displays including the backlight.
