New colour-critical display range again sets the benchmark with outstanding 10-bit P-IPS colour performance
Munich, 27 May 2010 – NEC Display Solutions launches its SpectraView ® Reference 241, the first model from the company’s next generation high-end desktop display range for colour-critical digital image processing, professional media design and print workflow applications. For maximum image quality and stability, the new model’s hardware-calibratable, wide-format LC display offers powerful 10-bit P-IPS* performance that covers 98 per cent of the AdobeRGB colour space. In addition, the 3D LUT for precise colour space emulation and 14-bit LUT** for each RGB channel provides outstanding colour control and gamma correction. NEC's Digital Uniformity Control (ColorComp) and ‘Backlight Ageing Control’ ensure controlled and peak performance throughout the entire lifecycle. The new SpectraView ® series will be enhanced through 2010 with additional 23”, 27” and 30” models.
The SpectraView ® Reference 241 is equipped with IPS technology – designed specifically for colour-critical applications such as pre-press, soft proofing, DTP and professional photography. With its 178-degree viewing angle and minimal visible colour shift, the P-IPS technology offers greater viewing stability than any other LCD panel technology and is the technology of choice for users who care about colour accuracy.
In addition to its faultless colour precision, 360 cd/m² brightness and 1,920 x 1,200 pixel resolution, this wide-format LCD offers a range of features guaranteed to increase productivity, such as a picture-in-picture technology. A future-proof DisplayPort and two DVI-D interfaces as well as a programmable USB hub assure maximum connectivity to multiple platforms such as Windows, Mac or Linux. Ergonomic characteristics such as the height-adjustable stand or the portrait capability allow for a user-friendly set-up of the workplace. The TCO 5.0 certificate additionally confirms compliance with strict ecological and ergonomic standards and with arsenic-free LCD module manufacturing and use of post-consumer plastics in the cabinet proves that top benchmark colour-critical performance with an environmentally responsible approach can be achieved.

Availability, price and warranty
The NEC SpectraView ® Reference 241 is available through retailers in black. The package includes NEC’s SpectraView ® Profiler 4.1 software on CD, light protection hood, an individual SpectraView ® certification report, providing proof of the individual performance of each screen, a power cable, DisplayPort and DVI-D cable, comprehensive manual for the monitor and software, and CD containing the installation software and drivers. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year warranty including backlights. In addition to the warranty, the manufacturer guarantees zero pixel defects for a period of six months following purchase.
