NEC Display Solutions unveils direct LED-backlit video wall display
MultiSync®X551UN: First fully professional grade public display with direct LED backlights
Munich, 23 May 2011 - NEC Display Solutions Europe has unveiled the first full high-definition LCD public display, in the MultiSync ® X551UN , incorporating a direct LED backlight for breathtaking video walls.
With direct LED backlight technology, LEDs are situated directly behind the panel, providing even illumination over the entire public display. Combined with the ultra-narrow 5.7mm bezel (content to content*) and the high-definition 1920x1080 resolution, users are ensured the most compelling video wall experience available today.
"We responded to the customer’s needs and reduced the bezel width even further while increasing the resolution of the screens compared to the very successful X462UN ," said Thorsten Prsybyl, Product Line Manager Public Displays at NEC Display Solutions Europe.
"As well as the improved resolution, the X551UN displays feature Auto ID assignment**, have the ability to daisy chain displays through DVI and DisplayPort, and can be fully controlled with free NEC software. Firmware upgrades can be done over the LAN** and the displays can send alert emails in the unlikely event of a problem such as a lack of signal, overheating or backlight failure."
The new display also features NEC’s dual slot technology, which allows for the integration of single board computers and other option slot products based on the current NEC and new NEC/Intel OPS standard without the need to stow external equipment.
Prsybyl continued: "Combined with the best features of its predecessors such as advanced temperature monitoring and user fan control, a single ambient light sensor controlling the entire wall and an integrated 10x10 splitter with input memory, NEC continues to set the standard in the demanding and growing retail signage, rental and control wall markets."
The MultiSync ® X551UN is factory calibrated at 500cd/m 2 and this can be boosted to a maximum brightness of 700cd/m 2 if required. NEC also offers a calibration tool with a sensor and software so the display can be calibrated to deliver perfect colour and brightness uniformity across the wall.
As with many of its public displays, NEC Display Solutions provides a range of mounting solutions for the X551UN and a decorative Overframe Kit.
Availability and warranty
The MultiSync ® X551UN will be available starting in June 2011. Each unit includes a DVI-D cable, mini-plug cable, cable cover, power cord, users manual on CD-ROM and quick setup guide. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year pan-European service warranty including the backlight.
