NEC Display Solutions launches high performance LED backlight IPS display for demanding office applications

Munich, 14 May 2013 – NEC Display Solutions Europe has announced the launch of the MultiSync ^® P242W desktop display, setting a new benchmark in image quality, colour accuracy and connectivity for demanding professional applications.

The 24-inch 16:10 IPS desktop display with LED backlight is ideal for corporate office, professional design, finance, engineering and medical-imaging applications that require outstanding and reliable image quality.

The P242W brings a range of benefits for the office and customers looking to upgrade from a conventional format 19”, 20” or 21” display. These include highly stable image viewing thanks to IPS technology, which enables long, critical and accurate viewing. Workers who spend intensive hours in front of their screens will enjoy reduced tiredness and eyestrain, which aids error-free working. Digital Uniformity Control and an internal 14-bit LUT ensure superb out-of-the-box colour accuracy whereby all colour nuances are discernible, for improved colour confidence from every viewing angle. The display also offers easy installation and flexible connectivity with four inputs: VGA mini D-Sub 15pin, DVI-D, HDMI and the latest DisplayPort connector.

For the modern office, the P242W brings a number of space-saving and productivity-enhancing features. These include a Picture-by-Picture function, allowing users to view two images from different data sources simultaneously, without the need for a dual screen. It also features a slim and flat bezel design for a seamless fit into the office, an integrated programmable USB hub, and ergonomic adjustments, ensuring the display can be matched to each user’s individual requirements.

In line with NEC’s Green Vision , the P242W maintains the highest standards in professional green productivity. An Ambient Light Sensor with Auto Brightness function guarantees that the display’s brightness level is optimised according to light conditions and content viewed. In addition, it offers modes for low power consumption and is made with mercury-free LED backlight technology, in keeping with NEC’s sustainable approach.

The display also comes with a DICOM preset for medical radiological review applications.

Availability and warranty
The NEC MultiSync ^® P242W comes in black or white and will be available from May 2013. Each unit includes the display, power cord, user manual on CD-ROM, DisplayPort cable, DVI-D to DVI-D cable, VGA to VGA cable and USB cable. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year pan-European service warranty including the backlight.
