London, 14 September 2016 - NEC Display Solutions is delighted to support two exhibits at the forthcoming New Scientist Live show at ExCeL in London. A festival of ideas and discovery, New Scientist Live attracts tens of thousands of intelligent, curious and scientifically literate visitors to the event which this year takes place between 22-25 September.

Organic Art (Mutator2) blends organic imagery and computer animation, using software modelled upon the processes of evolution. The evolutionary art by William Latham, Professor of Computer Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, will be one of the key demonstrations at the prestigious science festival.

The dynamic artwork will be displayed on a large Ultra High Definition digital canvas provided by NEC using four 46” X464UNV ultra-narrow bezel displays.

I am very pleased to have secured the NEC screens to display my work. The digital wall will be showing video at 3840 X 2160 pixels which will look amazing, the detail and vibrancy of the colours is very impressive,” says William Latham. “It’s also highly dynamic and the FrameComp feature means there is no image delay across the screens.”

The ultra slim X464UNV features a 5.7 mm bezel to create impressive high resolution video walls with barely visible bezels. The unique built-in FrameComp functionality supports a seamless appearance and shows the content without any interruption, creating one stunning image by synchronising the content across the wall.

In addition, NEC is providing two 65” multi-touch V652-TM displays allowing visitors to interact with new interactive software ‘CSynth’, which allows users to visualise the three dimensional structure of DNA inside a cell.

Steve Taylor, Head of the Computational Biology Research Group at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine says “the NEC touch screens are very robust and give very intuitive true multi-touch capability which enables a group of people to engage with the CSynth software simultaneously.”

NEC’s multi-touch displays have double anti-reflective coating for good visibility and fully tempered glass for added security and provides the perfect interface for collaborative work.

We are delighted to be able to support William Latham and his colleagues,” says Neil Hartigan, General Manager, NEC Display Solutions UK & Ireland. “The scientific industry demands highly accurate and reliable equipment to support its critical research and we are proud to support academia with technology which delivers in all these aspects.”
