NEC Display Solutions has contributed to the technological transformation of the Valencia Conference Centre, equipping it with laser projection systems in a total of two auditoriums and nine meeting rooms.

Throughout its 19 year history, the Valencia Conference Centre has welcomed nearly two million people at more than 2,600 events. Situated on one of the main arteries to the city, the Conference Centre is ideally situated as a conference venue yet needed to modernise its facilities in order to remain competitive and lead the conventions market, both at a national and international level.

The Challenge

At the forefront of the sector

The Valencia City Council, owner of the building, recognised the need to adapt to new demands and to update their facilities with cutting-edge technology to offer the best services to clients looking to host events and congresses. The transformation project was carried out in two separate phases during 2016 and 2017. The update of the audio-visual systems saw an investment of 1.1 million euros in the first phase and 450,000 euros in the second.

Technological innovation for excellent service

The Valencia Conference Centre now benefits from multiple devices from NEC Display Solutions installed in different locations including an NEC PH1202HL laser projector with 12,000 lumens, triple chip DLP and the NEC PX803UL single chip laser projector with 8,000 lumens. The new meeting rooms are equipped with the P502HL 5,000 lumens laser projectors.

Apart from the cutting-edge technology, one of the most innovative aspects is the comprehensiveness of the project itself. The scope of the renovation has made it possible for the Conference Centre to have the most advanced audio-visual solutions, thanks to NEC Display Solutions. Different lighting, imaging, sound and conferencing systems were all installed to offer the greatest flexibility for their clients’ needs.

The projectors provide the venue with peak projection performance with improved contrast and brightness, a wider colour gamut and increased clarity enabling audiences to enjoy a superior visual experience. Alongside this, the venue operator benefits from reduced maintenance costs as the devices do not need replacement bulbs or cleaning and have a long life of up to 20,000 hours. As an added benefit, the low energy consumption of the projectors contributes to the sustainability of the premises as well as lower heat generation and/or noise pollution.

A centre of reference in a big city must have the latest innovations to offer the best services. The Valencia Conference Centre is currently working on a portfolio of over 500 events, and part of its continued success lies in the versatility of the centre’s infrastructure. The refurbishment has enhanced its technological capabilities enabling it to host events with the most advanced technical demands.

For the operator and the wider community, demonstrating savings on budget and respect for the environment was crucial. The Conference Centre supports sustainability with 60% of total investments attributable to sustainable initiatives.

Antonio Galán, equipment R&D manager at the Valencia Conference Centre confirms, “the projection solutions from NEC Display help to achieve greater savings when it comes to energy and economics, which is essential in a centre belonging to a public entity such as the Valencia city council”.

The venue now benefits from ground-breaking equipment which, together with the versatility of its infrastructure and the uniqueness provided by the design of Norman Foster, it can once again flourish with renewed strength as a flagship building and as the venue of choice for large meetings.
