New 23-inch colour monitor for dual-input medical image viewing

NEC Display Solutions adds MDview 231 to its medical display portfolio

Munich, 1 March 2011 – NEC Display Solutions has announced the addition of a 2.1 megapixel wide-format LCD display to its MDview series. The 23-inch MDview 231 colour monitor has a high-performance IPS panel and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Thanks to its picture-by-picture function users can view two images from different data sources simultaneously, giving them a space-saving alternative to dual-screen solutions. The MDview 231 meets the requirements for clinical PACS review systems and is ideally suited for viewing images generated by computer tomography, magnetic resonance tomography, radiography and nuclear medicine. HIS (Hospital Information System) and RIS (Radiology Information System) applications can also easily be displayed in the full HD resolution.

The MDview 231 is ready for immediate use and ships with factory-settings that meet the DICOM standard. Digital Uniformity Control and Backlight Ageing Correction ensure white point control with consistent image quality. The 14-bit look-up tables also allow precise calibration in accordance with the DICOM Part 14 GSDF standard. The GammaComp MD QA client software supplied with the display simplifies maintenance, calibration and documentation and thus makes comprehensive quality assurance easy.

Thanks to its excellent ergonomic characteristics, the MDview 231 is a convincing proposition in practical every day use. It is height-adjustable up to 150mm and can be rotated, tilted and swivelled or pivoted for viewing images in landscape or portrait mode. These functions allow users to adjust the display to match their individual requirements. The monitor provides flexible and advanced connection options in the form of its DisplayPort, VGA and two DVI-D interfaces.

The NEC MDview 231 is now available through NEC Display Solutions and certified medical trade resellers. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year warranty which also covers the backlight.
