Munich, 23 April, 2014 – NEC Display Solutions Europe has launched a series of ultra-durable, filter free projectors with very low cost of ownership (TCO) and advanced multimedia capabilities . These features, together with clear picture and full connectivity, make the DLP-based M2 Series projectors ideal for use in classroom and mid-sized meeting room environments, where budget and performance are equally important.

Very low TCO is achieved thanks to the projectors’ filter free design with sealed DLP light engine. Whilst other projectors’ dust filters have to be regularly cleaned, the sealed design of the M2 Series means no dust can collect on the DLP chips, which keeps maintenance low. Perfect for intensive operating conditions, the DLP chip also enables longer operating hours without colour decay that can occur on LCD based projectors.

In addition the projectors boast a number of innovative ECO functions. These include ECO mode, using as little as 30% power, which allows a lamp life of up to 8,000 hours. Combined with ambient light sensor technology to automatically adjust brightness based on lighting conditions, these features significantly reduce power consumption. This makes the projectors both a cost-friendly and environmentally sustainable choice for schools and businesses, in line with NEC’s Green Vision .

Ulf Greiner, Product Line Manager Business Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe said, “Operating hours of projectors in classrooms and office meeting rooms are typically increasing, as teachers and workers realise the benefits that visual aids bring when they are teaching or delivering a presentation. As a result long-term performance as well as post-purchase costs are important buying considerations. We have introduced features including an ultra-durable sealed light engine and innovative ECO functions that minimise the lifetime costs of our new DLP-based M2 Series projectors and extend their lamp life, whilst delivering the high performance users expect from NEC.”

The four new projectors bring a number of new features beyond those of the current M Series, offering additional performance benefits to schools and offices. A large 1.7x optical zoom enables higher flexibility when placing the projectors on a tabletop or mounting them in a classroom or mid-sized meeting room. This often also eliminates the need to change the position of the ceiling mount with replacement installations. Horizontal keystone correction is introduced on the new models to complement vertical keystone correction, providing further versatility to position the projectors towards the screen. In addition, the DLP-based M2 Series boasts greater brightness with WXGA and Full HD resolution and a higher 10,000:1 contrast ratio for a better picture.

Advanced connectivity is offered through an integrated wireless access point, which enables multiple devices to connect to the projector without the need for an additional router. This allows users to send content wireless from their notebook, tablet or smartphone using NEC’s free Image Express Utility Lite including audio transmission (Windows and Mac) or Wireless Image Utility (iOS and Android expected for May 2014). A large number of input terminals including 2 x HDMI with 3D support and 3 x USB inputs provide flexibility and future proof investments made by businesses and schools. For example it allows users to deliver presentations and send an image or video from a USB drive without the need for a PC. Plus, by connecting a microphone directly to the projectors via the microphone jack, users no longer have to rely on an external amplifier.

A free DisplayNote Presenter Licence is available with purchases of the M2 Series until 31 st of May. The software turns the projectors into an interactive presenting tool, which allows teachers or office workers to present, share and collaborate with any platform and device. In order to promote its powerful wireless capabilities, NEC will additionally offer a free WLAN stick with the new M2 Series until end of September.

Many schools and universities already rely on NEC Display Solutions’ technology to provide solutions for engaging learning, including Derby University and the University of Warwick in the UK, and Jacint Verdaguer School in Spain.
