Media Player from NEC Display Solutions allows for easy creation and display of digital signage content
Munich, 28 October 2009 – NEC Display Solutions is presenting its Media Player. This November the well-priced combination of hardware and software for digital signage applications comes to the market. The user-friendly software component enables even inexperienced users to quickly and easily create content for public displays. The reliable and durable hardware – available either as an external or an internal device – generates video data with a resolution of up to 1,920 x 1,080 (full HD).
Even the best digital signage system is only as good as its content. Normally a multimedia-expert is necessary, in order to play a video, a ticker, and a still image simultaneously. With the new Media Player from NEC Display Solutions, users can create professional digital signage content without any previous knowledge. It is therefore especially suitable for small to medium-sized companies without their own IT professionals, such as shops, travel agencies, restaurants or doctors’ surgeries.
The associated hardware is available in two versions. As an external player, it supports all public displays, projectors and desktop displays that have a DVI input. The internal device avoids additional cable connections and is compatible with selected NEC monitors featuring an Option Slot. A DVI output even enables it to provide content for a second monitor simultaneously. Both the internal and the external player are extremely durable, since they operate without fans or other moving parts.
There are two ways in which the user can feed the created content to the media player. Via a USB interface, the user updates all information directly at the device - quickly and easily. Or, when operated in a network, up to 20 Media Players can be combined and controlled from a single PC. The supplied content creation software runs on any version of Windows XP and Vista.
Availability
The NEC Media Player can be purchased in two different versions – slot-in or external player - starting in November. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year warranty on these devices.
