Cineplace and NEC Display Solutions debuts Europe’s first RGB laser cinema projector
Leading cinema operator to offer customers latest visual experience with landmark deployment in Braga, Portugal
Munich, 18 April 2017 – NEC Display Solutions Europe today announced that its new projection technology, the NC3540LS cinema laser projector, will be installed as part of the brand new Cineplace Nova Arcada entertainment centre, located in Braga, Portugal.
The NC3540LS offers outstanding resolution and, for the first time on any projection system, colours beyond the DCI or Adobe RGB specifications; enabling the creation of more vibrant and stunning pictures than ever before for an unprecedented cinema experience.
The deployment builds on Cineplace’s use of NEC equipment and projectors in several of its locations throughout Portugal, including three NC900Cs, two NC1201Ls and five NC2000s, as well as several digital signage screens. The installation is NEC’s first RGB laser projection system deployment in Europe and the first globally to be incorporated as a permanent feature. It was coordinated in conjunction with NEC approved installation partners Cenário Avançado and Kelonik.
“It is encouraging for the cinema industry that the Cineplace Nova Arcada will incorporate the NC3540LS projector within its facilities. Portugal is a major territory for NEC and was a key reason in our decision to debut the projector with Cineplace. The fact that this will be a permanent installation at a brand-new venue bodes well for both us and cinema attendees now and in the future,” said Mark Kendall, Business Development Digital Cinema at NEC Display Solutions Europe.
"The inclusion of the first RGB laser projector in Europe at our XPlace screen represents for our Group an opportunity to maximize the experience for the cinema-goers. The goal with this project is to provide a state-of-the art visual experience, and to achieve it, the collaboration with NEC was essential due to its know-how and technological excellence in the market. The only thing that we can expect of this project is to bring culture and a high level cinema entertainment experience for Braga and Portugal, which for our company Cineplace, is a market of great importance," added Aquiles Mônaco, CEO of Cineplace.
The new NC3540LS installation was part of the grand opening of the Cineplace Nova Arcada on 13 April 2017.
