The clue is in the name: the “Grand Hall” is a spacious venue with state-of-the-art plug and play technology, it accommodates up to 500 people in the heart of the “Erste Campus”, the representative headquarters of Erste Group Bank AG in Vienna.

The Grand Hall is used for in-house events for Erste Bank’s 6,000 employees and is also hired out to external companies. Whilstthe venue was already equipped with optimum sound technology, Erste Bank was looking for a state-of-the-art display solution to offer guests an excellent all-round audio-visual experience.

One of the biggest challenges was to preserve the numerous works of art displayed throughout the Erste Campus. The Grand Hall features an approximately 60-metre-long and 7-metre-high curtain by the Austrian artist Florian Pumhösl, which displays varying geometric surfaces when opened and closed.

The experts at ELMON and Sharp / NEC developed the ideal solution for Erste Bank’s requirements: a customised dvLED video wall with a pixel pitch of only 1.88 mm and a total surface area of 28 m2 providing breath-taking visualisation in UHD resolution. The video wall, which weighs a total of 1,170 kg, is suspended on motorised chain hoists from the ceiling and can be moved up and down, which means that it can be used flexibly in conjunction with the extendible stage to meet bespoke event requirements. What’s more, the dvLED deployment moves in harmony with the existing curtain art installation.
