Regional Security Centre Olsztyn

Reliable, 24/7 monitoring of emergency services

New investment at the Regional Security Centre proves that crisis management sector institutions must continue to function effectively and develop for future operations despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. The Centre, which serves the District of Olsztyn in Poland, chooses ultra-narrow bezel visual technology from Sharp/NEC to equip its emergency services control rooms.

The remit of the Regional Security Centre is manifold, including 24-hour crisis management, coordination, and analysis of emergency service providers in the Olsztyn District. It is responsible for security, public safety, property, and the environment; it monitors natural disasters and forecasts risk development, prevention, and elimination of the effects of exceptional occurrences.

The Challenge

A reliable 24-hour monitoring centre will ensure ongoing protection for the inhabitants of Olsztyn and the wider district.

The implementation of state-of-the-art technology enables the coordinators of all emergency services working in the Regional Security Centre, including the police, ambulance and fire services, and the municipal police, to monitor any situation, to track activity at the scene of an event in real time, and coordinate a joint action plan.

Ongoing observation supports crime prevention and will improve the provision of a coordinated response to crime.

The Solution

The design and installation of the video walls in the Regional Security Centre were carried out by PHU Ingwar. An integrator with many years’ experience working with Sharp NEC Display Solutions, PHU Ingwar had no hesitation in proposing the NEC brand for a project with such demanding requirements.

The NEC MultiSync® UN552VS monitors offer a virtually ‘frameless’ solution. The inactive area between two adjacent monitors is only 0.88mm, presenting a uniform image over the entire area of two video walls, each configured by eight monitors in width and three monitors in height.

The NEC UN552VS also achieves excellent image quality. The monitors feature an NEC SpectraView image processor, which works jointly with a subpanel light sensor to automatically calibrate individual displays according to the given image parameters, in real time.

The monitors are based on IPS technology with the ability to turn off the backlights locally. This is a very important feature as many people will be viewing the information from across the control room space and using IPS panels will achieve the widest angles of vision possible.

NEC UN552VS displays allow trouble-free operation and the ability to constantly monitor device operation via a LAN network. The monitors automatically send notifications to operators regarding their operational performance, which, for a 24/7 emergency facility, is very important.

The Result

Realisation of the project using multi-format NEC monitors has achieved a highly professional result, as much in its functionality as in its visual impact. The inhabitants of Olsztyn can rest assured of their continued safety under the watchful eye of the Regional Security Centre.
