NEC Display Solutions announces industry first compact laser projector for cinema screens
World’s first compact DCI-compliant digital cinema laser projector delivers cost-saving features for cinemas, art houses, and theatres
Munich, 24 March, 2014 – NEC Display Solutions Europe has announced the availability of the world's first fully integrated compact DCI-compliant digital cinema projector using laser light source. Specially designed for cinema screens up to 11m, the NEC NC1100L is ideal for use in venues such as cinemas and art houses, as well as public buildings, theatres and universities.
First sample shown at ShowEast 2013 in Florida, the NC1100L laser projector builds on NEC’s expertise and heritage in the digital cinema industry. It is the first cinema projector to include an integrated laser light source, which eliminates the need and cost of a lamp. The laser light source boasts a lifetime of approximately 20,000 hours, or more on smaller screens, and virtually eliminates maintenance requirements. This makes the NC1100L a cost saving solution thanks to its very low power consumption and total cost of ownership (TCO).
"The NEC NC1100L projector is leading the compact digital cinema category with high reliability, dramatically lower running costs and long life operation, making it a great option for smaller cinemas," said Gerd Kaiser, Product Line Manager for Large Venue Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe. "The launch of the NC1100L brings industry first features and benefits to the market and reinforces NEC’s commitment to innovation."
A highly flexible solution, the NC1100L projector can be floor or ceiling mounted as no exhaust system is required. As well as being the most compact cinema laser projector available, measuring 700mm x 1042 x 314mm, the projector is also lightweight which makes it easy to transport. Bringing outstanding performance, the projector’s 2K DCI-compliant cinema quality delivers a stunning image bright enough to display on screens up to 11m in DCI colour (1.8 Gain screen). Furthermore, there is no downtime in exhibition of content with the laser light source, producing steady and reliable operation.
The NC1100L can be deployed as a complete one-stop digital cinema solution, using the built-in Integrated Media Server (IMS). This brings an ‘all in one’ Integrated Media Block and 2TB Storage Server for versatile connectivity and enhanced savings as less peripheral devices are needed.
Many cinemas already rely on NEC Display Solutions’ technology to provide end-to-end solutions from digital signage for the foyer through to the latest projection technology for cinema screens, including Odeon UCI Cinemas Group , Europe’s largest cinema operator, and Abaco Cines in Spain.
Note to Editors
The laser projector, NEC NC1100L, is available from May 2014. The 20,000 hours life time may vary depending upon environmental conditions.
