NEC unveils its first compact RB laser cinema projector
Designed for theatres with mid-sized screens of up to 17 metres wide, the NC1700L projector delivers an enhanced cinematic experience using the first RB laser light source for cinemas worldwide
Munich, 6 February 2017 – NEC Display Solutions Europe today announced the availability of its NC1700L RB laser cinema projector, offering high brightness, crisper colours and exceptional image quality. Ideal for cinema screens of up to 17 metres wide, the high brightness output serves the majority of cinemas and can be perfectly adjusted to suit each individual screen and application.
Built around RB laser light source technology this innovation goes beyond the cinema colour and brightness output of traditional laser phosphor projection systems. The major new development in laser projection is achieved by using a red laser source offering a higher light output than comparable projectors and more intense and natural playback of red colour tones. Not only does this enhance the cinematic experience, it significantly reduces initial purchasing and operational cost compared to RGB laser projectors.
Cinema operators will value the cost-saving and high uptime benefits offered by the NC1700L laser projector. It removes the need for lamp exchange or filter cleaning and allows up to 30,000 hours of almost maintenance-free operation. With its advanced cooling system and low operational noise, there is nothing to distract cinema goers from their cinema experience.
Gerd Kaiser, Senior Product Line Manager Digital Cinema and Large Venue Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe, said: “Laser is the projector light source of the future and we continue to prove this by building on NEC’s portfolio of laser cinema projectors. Using new RB laser technology, the NC1700L enhances cinematic experience, brings high reliability and durability whilst saving on operational costs. Its high brightness output makes it a scalable solution for both crisp 2D and 3D movie playback.”
In addition to these benefits, the NC1700L is highly flexible and allows for easy installation without the need for a special exhaust system. This installation flexibility is further supported through the use of a much wider lens shift ratio that does not impact on image quality. Furthermore, the projector’s connectivity options make it perfectly adaptable to screening non-cinematic activities such as company presentations or gaming events. These means cinema operators can increase usage and maximise revenue.
