Munich, 25 February, 2014 NEC Display Solutions Europe has added three new short-throw projectors to its popular M Series projector range, perfectly designed for interactive applications in classrooms and corporate meeting rooms.

The NEC M352WS, M302WS and M332XS all use wide-angle lenses and offer highly efficient and innovative ECO features, a sealed DLP light engine, long lamp life and low power consumption. This makes the new projectors virtually maintenance free and they offer an impressively low cost of ownership without compromising on quality and flexibility. Furthermore, the inclusion of advanced multimedia capabilities and an interactive multi-pen option turn these short-throw projectors into the centrepiece of a modern, learning environment.

" The modern teaching environment is greatly benefited by the influx of collaborative and engaging teaching aids, and the new M Series projectors make it even easier for presenters to show off engaging content with pupils or colleagues, without glare or shadow ," said Ulf Greiner, Product Line Manager Business Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe. "These features, combined with easy maintenance, long life-span and versatile connectivity make it the perfect all-around solution for classrooms and medium-sized meeting rooms ."

The NEC M352WS and M302WS have a native wide-screen resolution of 1280x800 and a brightness of 3,500 and 3,000 ANSI lumen respectively, while those looking for a 4:3 format can opt for the M332XS's native resolution of 1024x768 and a brightness of 3,300 ANSI lumen.

All three new models incorporate a wide range of input terminals and network connectivity options, allowing teachers and presenters to easily show a wide range of content, including 3D. This is augmented by an interactive multi-pen option – used in conjunction with the free DisplayNote Presenter software to present, share and collaborate on any platform and any device.

The main issue when working on an interactive whiteboard is the shadow and glare caused by the projector. The short-throwing distance significantly reduces shadow and eliminates glare. For teachers and frequent presenters, typically operating hours are extensive when working in an interactive application. As such, low power consumption and long lamp life therefore become important factors in order to minimise the total cost of ownership.

Further cutting overall cost of ownership, the light engine is sealed so that no dust can collect on the DLP chip, optical lenses, lamp or colour wheel. This eliminates the need for a dust filter and reduces maintenance.

In line with NEC’s Green Vision , the projectors offer advanced ECO features including low-energy consumption settings, which reduce power consumption and extend lamp life. In fact, when run in Eco Mode, these new projectors can offer a lamp life of up to 8,000 hours. The Auto Eco Mode dynamically adjusts the lamp brightness depending on the content shown on the screen. Furthermore, a new ambient light sensor now also allows the brightness to be adjusted depending on the surrounding conditions.

DisplayNote NEC Edition Presenter software comes free with each projector purchase until May 2014. DisplayNote allows users to connect, control and present from a tablet or smart phone. Optional multi-user licences add the possibility to share content with other participant devices and opens up a number of collaborative scenarios locally, as well as with remote locations in the cloud . The support of Windows, MAC, Android and iOS makes DisplayNote a perfect solution for BYOD (bring your own device) scenarios.

A new optional interactive Multi-Pen will become available in April, 2014. This solution turns any projection surface into an interactive whiteboard. Interactivity can also be added retrospectively, which allows customers more flexibility in their buying decision when it comes to making a future proof investment . The whole kit ships with two super-fast charging pens supporting smartphone like gestures on the interactive workspace like pinching and zooming.

IT administrators get complete control of the projectors thanks to NEC's NaViSet Administrator 2 software package. This gives them the ability to monitor and manage all projector settings over a wired or wireless network through an intuitive graphical user interface and allows for settings to be updated, tasks to be queried and reports to be generated.
